Arsenal has just set an unprecedented financial milestone in Premier League history by earning nearly 200 million pounds in bonuses and television rights after winning the 2025-2026 season championship.
According to British media, Arsenal received about £198.7 million - the highest revenue ever recorded in the Premier League. This figure far exceeds the £174.9 million that Liverpool earned last season, and also breaks the £176.2 million record set by Manchester City in the 2022-2023 season.
The main reason comes from a major change in the revenue distribution structure of the Premier League this season.
Specifically, each rank in the current rankings is worth about £3.76 million, a sharp increase compared to £2.65 million last season. The championship alone helps Arsenal receive £75.2 million in ranking bonuses - about 42% higher than the amount Liverpool received when they won the 2024-2025 season.
Not only Arsenal benefited, the 2025-2026 season also marked the first time total revenue allocated to 20 Premier League clubs exceeded the 3 billion pound mark. In the last three seasons, this figure only fluctuated around 2.8 billion pounds.
That makes the financial race in the Premier League more fierce than ever. Just a few positions in the rankings can make a difference of tens of millions of pounds in revenue.
Sunderland is the clearest example. The victory over Chelsea in the final round helped this team climb to 7th place and earn more than £11 million compared to ending the season in 10th place.
Manchester United is also in the group of big financial winners. Michael Carrick's team received about £191.5 million after finishing third and had the highest number of live broadcasts in the league. The amount from 34 live broadcasts alone brought in nearly £24 million for the "Red Devils".
Meanwhile, revenue from international television rights continues to be the biggest "gold mine" of the Premier League, contributing about half of the total revenue of the entire league. This is also a factor that helps English football maintain a superior gap compared to the rest of Europe in terms of financial strength.
