According to European press, Arsenal has negotiated with Galatasaray about the possibility of signing Osimhen. The 27-year-old striker is said to have received great admiration from coach Mikel Arteta, in the context that the "Gunners" want to add another attacking player before the summer transfer window closes.
Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid is still one of Arsenal's priority targets. However, Atletico does not want to sell the Argentine striker, while Alvarez also has no intention of returning to the Premier League and wants to move to Barcelona.
Therefore, Osimhen is emerging as a noteworthy option. However, Arsenal is not willing to meet the current income of the Nigerian striker at Galatasaray, which is said to be more than 20 million euros (17.1 million pounds) per year.
According to the above source, Arsenal "has no intention of making an unreasonable offer for Osimhen" and has informed this striker that he needs to reduce his salary requirements if he wants to move to Emirates.
That means Osimhen will have to choose between accepting a lower salary at Arsenal or continuing to stick with Galatasaray.
Notably, the Turkish team still does not want to let the main striker leave. Earlier this month, Galatasaray rejected an offer worth 130 million euros (111 million pounds) from Al-Hilal for Osimhen.
Galatasaray chairman Dursun Ozbek is said to be determined not to sell the Nigerian striker this summer. Al-Hilal then abandoned the deal and switched direction to Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa, but the latest offer worth 45 million pounds was also rejected.
While the future is still undecided, Osimhen continues to maintain impressive form. After a double in the 2-2 draw with Corum FK in the opening round of Super Lig, the 27-year-old striker continued to score two goals in Galatasaray's 4-0 victory over Erzurumspor FK on Friday.
Previously, Osimhen also did not rule out the possibility of leaving Galatasaray when asked about transfer rumors.
In transfer windows, there are always rumors.
I will focus on my work. I am focusing on work. Then we will consider and think about the next steps.
