After the decisive goal against Fulham, Benjamin Sesko continued to shine at the right time, helping Manchester United defeat Everton in a difficult match.
The Slovenian striker has scored 5 goals in the Premier League in 2026 (excluding penalties) - more than any other player. If he had not missed the last chance against Tottenham Hotspur, he would have had a 3-game consecutive scoring streak from the bench.
Traveling to Merseyside with not very impressive away form (only winning 1/5 recent matches), Michael Carrick's team still entered the game proactively. In the fourth minute, Amad Diallo launched a dangerous low shot, forcing Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski to coordinate to clear the ball right on the goal line.
In the remainder of the first half, the "Red Devils" created more clear chances. Diogo Dalot tried his luck with a powerful long-range shot, the ball went narrowly wide of the post.
On Everton's side, the most notable opportunity belonged to James Garner, but his free kick could not beat Senne Lammens' excellent reflexes.
The second half took place at a higher pace. In the 46th minute, Harrison Armstrong had a chance to open the score, but his close-range curling shot was still blocked by Lammens. In response, Bryan Mbeumo shot over the bar in the penalty area.
The turning point came in the 71st minute when Everton was engrossed in pushing high to find a goal. Matheus Cunha launched an accurate long pass for Mbeumo to accelerate. The Cameroonian striker handled neatly and crossed for Sesko to finish in one touch into the far corner, scoring the only goal of the match.
In the final minutes, Everton poured all their strength into attack but Lammens continued to be a reliable stopper, successively denied shots from Michael Keane and Tyrique George.
The 1-0 victory helps Man United narrow the gap with Aston Villa's third place to 3 points, continuing to nurture hopes in the race to win tickets to European cups.
