Todd Boehly and Mark Walter have divested from Chelsea in an agreement to help Clearlake Capital take full ownership of the club.
Clearlake, Boehly and Walter are in the group of investors who jointly bought Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in the deal approved by the British Government in May 2022. Before the new agreement, Clearlake owned 61.5% of shares, while Boehly, Walter and investor Hansjorg Wyss held the remaining shares.
Chelsea has just confirmed that affiliates of Clearlake Capital Group will acquire the ownership of Todd Boehly and Mark Walter, thereby controlling the entire club. Hansjorg Wyss still holds shares and continues to be an important member of the ownership group.
As part of the transfer process, Clearlake will also buy back shares owned by Mark Walter and therefore will take full control of the club" - Chelsea announced.
According to Chelsea, owners in the past time have aimed together for the goal of building a foundation for long-term success. The club said that many investments have been made for the men's team, women's team, youth teams, training facilities in Cobham, medical and player support systems, academies, and sports and business operating apparatus.
Todd Boehly also left the position of Chelsea President after Clearlake took full control.

Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano, two co-founders of Clearlake Capital, also thanked Boehly for his contributions during his time as Chairman.

Clearlake affirms that becoming sole owners will not change Chelsea's current direction. The company said it will continue to invest in infrastructure, sports achievements and player development, with the goal of long-term success for the club.
The Blues also confirmed that the daily activities, leadership and strategy of the team are still maintained after the change in ownership. The club is currently led by Xabi Alonso, who was appointed in the summer of 2026.
