English football will "ignore" the 2022-23 season in Europe's top national championships. At 23:00 on July 30 (Vietnam time), Liverpool and Manchester City will play Community Shield at King Power Stadium.
Lao Dong sends readers information they need to know about the history of the English Super Cup.
Football Association Community Shield (formerly Charity Shield) is an annual English football match held at Wembley between the Premier League and FA Cup champions last season. If the Premier League champions also win the FA Cup, the runner-up team of the tournament will be the opponent. The match was recognized by the FA and UEFA as a Super Cup.
Organized by the FA, the proceeds from the match are distributed to community initiatives and charitable organizations across the country.
Revenue from ticket sales and around-match programs has been distributed to 124 clubs that have competed in the FA Cup since the first round, then distributed to charities and projects they choose, while the rest is distributed to the FA's national charity partners.
The match was first held in the 1909/09 season, replacing the Sheriff of London Charity Shield.
Community Shield continues from Sheriff of London Charity Shield was introduced in 1898 as a tournament for amateur teams (there can be understood as a gentlemen's team against traditional players). The Football Association Charity Shield, as known at that time, was designed to replace Sheriff of London Charity Shield after leading amateur clubs left the FA.
The new format is for the champions of the Football League First Division to compete with the champions of the Southern Federation and the first match took place in 1908, between Manchester United (champion of the First Division) and Queens Park Rangers (champion of the South).
The match was 11, so we had to play again, with a 4-0 victory for Man United. That was also the only Charity Shield game to be rematched. Both matches took place at Stamford Bridge.
The format of the competition has changed over the years, from a match between Amateur and professionals XIs, to the Football League champions meeting the FA Cup champions and now the Premier League champions meeting the FA Cup champions.
