On April 25, the leader of Nghia Dan District People's Committee confirmed that up to now, the authorities have initially discovered a total of 18 skulls and many pieces of bones in the cave in the Len Chua area, Nghia Thanh commune.
According to local people, this cave was previously visited by many people, but no one discovered anything unusual. Previously, this place was used to destroy shells. The entrance to the cave has been blocked with rocks, but it is still possible to enter and exit.

On April 23, a local resident, out of curiosity, went into the grotto and suddenly discovered artifacts suspected to be human remains, so he reported it to the authorities. The authorities immediately arrived at the scene, expanded the search and have so far had the above results.
According to records, 18 skulls and remains were discovered in a state of near complete decomposition, many part of the skull and long bones were rotten, suggesting that the burial period may have lasted for many years.
Mr. Ho Manh Ha - Deputy Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage Management, Nghe An Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism - shared: "Based on the cave terrain, terrain and some artifacts such as snail shells and broken ceramics collected at the scene, it can be initially determined that this was once a place of residence of the ancient Vietnamese people".

To accurately determine the anthological characteristics and dating of the remains, the specialized sector will evaluate using the carbon-14 radioactive synchronization method, and consult with archaeological experts. If it is identified as an archaeological site, there will be an excavation and research plan according to regulations.
Currently, specialized units have proposed that local authorities protect the site and keep it in its original state to serve the research and excavation if it is identified as an archaeological site.
The representative of the cultural sector also emphasized that if the survey factors authenticate this as a relic of scientific and historical value, there will be a plan to excavate and preserve it in accordance with regulations.
The incident is continuing to be monitored and clarified by the authorities.
