There is a big difference at Anfield after nearly a year. Liverpool were sparsely paid in the first summer of coach Arne Slot, but now everything has changed dramatically.
Up to now, £185 million is the amount Liverpool has invested in 3 new contracts in the 2025 Summer market. Florian Wirtz broke the England transfer record, while Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez were not cheap either.
But The Kop still do not want to stop, as they are targeting two Premier League stars. Most notably is Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. This week, an offer has been made, with a sky-high price of £125 million for the Swedish striker. Newcastle insists Isak is not for sale but this could be the start of a long story if Liverpool make an attractive offer.

In defense, Marc Guehi is the target of Liverpool. The reigning Premier League champions are getting closer to recruiting England, whose contract with Crystal Palace expires next summer. Part of Liverpool's interest in Guehi is that Ibrahima Konate has also fallen into a similar situation at Anfield.
The French centre-back could follow in the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold and join Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2026. Some fans have urged Liverpool to sell Konate or even push him onto the bench if Guehi signs.
In the remaining positions in the defense, Frimpong and Kerkez will be the two full-backs. Virgil van Dijk is the only player left from last season. They will still have a reliable Alisson Becker in goal, with Giorgi Mamardashvili as a quality reserve option.

Continuing Slot's familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister will be the pair of holding midfielders. However, Dominik Szoboszlai will find it difficult to compete for a starting position if Wirtz is placed in his preferred position. Although the German player can play on the left wing or as a striker, Slot will still want to maximize his ability in the number 10 role.
Mohamed Salah is an irreplaceable option on the right wing, while Cody Gakpo or Luis Diaz will play on the opposite wing. And in the center, there is no doubt that Isak will be the leader of Liverpool's attack if he joins Anfield.

Of course, the Reds have yet to finalize a deal with Isak. They are less than a month away from the Premier League opener with a home game against Bournemouth. Before that, Liverpool will meet Crystal Palace in the English Super Cup match.
At the end of next month, Liverpool will visit Newcastle, where they could face Isak if they cannot complete the record transfer deal before that time.
Liverpool's potential lineup for the 2025-2026 season: Alisson, Frimpong, Guehi, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo, Isak.
