Coach Edin Terzic is still without a new job after leaving Dortmund this summer. Now the former Dortmund boss has become the latest candidate to be linked with replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Terzic has led Dortmund twice, the first time from December 2020 to June 2021 as an interim coach and the second time from May 2022 to June 2024. During his first term, he helped Dortmund win the DFB-Pokal championship.
The Red Devils have had their worst start to a season ever, picking up just eight points from seven Premier League games, putting a lot of pressure on Ten Hag's position.
Last week, the Man United leadership team held a seven-hour meeting to discuss the Dutchman's future. Although Ten Hag is safe for now, the prospect of him being sacked could still be on the cards in the near future.
Terzic is one of the latest managers to be linked with a move to Old Trafford. The 41-year-old is highly regarded and led Dortmund to the Champions League final last season. They lost 2-0 to Real Madrid and Terzic was subsequently sacked.
Terzic is now said to be on the shortlist of names that Man United are considering if they decide to sack Ten Hag. He is not the only coach that the "Red Devils" are closely monitoring.
Graham Potter, Thomas Tuchel and former England head coach Gareth Southgate are others on the Old Trafford team's radar.
Several United players are currently training and playing with the national team. They will return on October 19 when the "Red Devils" face Brentford. If United's results do not improve, Terzic could become a leading candidate.
Terzic has a strong personality and is willing to react harshly to star players. For this reason, Terzic had a conflict with center-back Matts Hummels, leading to both leaving Signal Iduna Park this summer.
The 41-year-old strategist has always aimed to build teams with a fiery attacking style. He used to work as a scout, then took on the role of assistant in the Dortmund youth team under Jurgen Klopp.
He was also assistant to Slaven Bilic at Besiktas, then West Ham and completed his coaching training in England.
