Compared to the hard-fought victory against Bournemouth in round 1, Man City had a much easier match at Selhurst Park. In the 17th minute, Haaland cleverly headed into Palace's net after Semenyo's pass.
Man City also created some more good chances after the first half, but Foden or Cherki did not take advantage of them successfully. On the home team's side, the best opportunity was when Tyrick Mitchell headed wide of the post behind even though the goal was empty.
Right at the beginning of the second half, Enzo Maresca's team increased the gap. Foden led the ball forward before passing to Cherki, who then passed a few players and shot to score a bold goal in the 54th minute.
Just 2 minutes later, Crystal Palace ignited hopes of scoring points when narrowing the score to 1-2. Yeremy Pino took a dangerous free kick, the ball hit the crossbar and bounced into Donnarumma's net. This goal was counted as an own goal by the Italian goalkeeper.
But Cherki, with excellent form, restored the two-goal advantage for Man City with a dangerous shot from just outside the penalty area in the 59th minute, after a pass from Gvardiol.
Like Cherki before, Haaland scored a double immediately afterwards, successfully finishing into Henderson's net in a narrow angle, bringing great joy to Man City fans in the stands.
In the end, Man City won Crystal Palace 4-1. This result ensures Man City a maximum of 6 points after the first 2 matches in the Enzo Maresca era. Their next match is against newly promoted Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium next week.
