Recently, the Nanterre Procuracy requested the Hakimi defender to be tried for the crime of rape in front of Hauts-de-Seine's criminal court.
However, according to information from the French press, the criminal proceedings may still be long before Hakimi actually has to appear in court for a criminal case.
This is an unfavorable decision for Achraf Hakimi. Prosecuted for rape in March 2023, the PSG right-back is now facing the risk of being brought to trial for alleged acts that occurred at his home on 25 February 2023.
The prosecutors said that there was enough basis to bring the defender's case to trial, but the Procuracy was not the agency that made the final decision. The indictment was transferred to a female judge for investigation. All requests from the Nanterre Prosecution's Office will be decided by this judge.
If convicted, Hakimi faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison, the maximum for non-serious rape in France.
Hakimi recently shared his first official post on Canal+: "I'm very calm. This false accusation is terrible and unfair. I know the truth will be clarified. I don't see any fault in myself, those who know me all know that. I only focus on the more important things in life, family and football."
Currently, Hakimi and PSG are fully focused on the European Super Cup match against Tottenham on August 13.
