Before the final match of the UEFA Champions League this season, coach Jurgen Klopp had experienced 6 consecutive defeats in finals in many different arenas. This is definitely an achievement that no coach wants to experience in his career.
However, speaking at a press conference before the upcoming final against Tottenham, coach Jurgen Klopp has a very different view on this issue.
The German coach said: "You think I am a person with an unlucky career? It's not unlucky.
From 2012 to now, except for 2017, I have always participated in 1 final match. I am probably the world record holder for the number of times I have won semi-finals in the past 7 years.
If I consider myself a failure, I must be a problematic person. However, I don't see it that way. That is why we are here to win the silver cup. I can always find confidence in this record".
Last season, Liverpool also reached the UEFA Champions League final. However, the mistakes of goalkeeper Karius caused them to lose 1-3 to Real Madrid.
Comparing the final match a year ago, Coach Klopp expressed: "We have matured a lot. We are 1 year older. Trent Alexander-Arnold has played 50 more matches, the whole team has more experience.
We were surprised to reach the final last season. The team at that time did not have the stability it has now. The way we behave as a team in different situations has changed. However, we do not want to change the pace and technique in the playing style compared to last year.
That is the reason why they have 97 points in the Premier League. Therefore, we should be steadfast in tomorrow's match."
Also at this press conference, coach Jurgen Klopp confirmed that striker Roberto Firmino has fully recovered from injury. As a result, Liverpool could start with the trio Salah, Firmino and Sadio Mane up front in the next match.
The 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League final between Tottenham and Liverpool will take place at the Estadio Metropolitano (Madrid, Spain) at 2:00 a.m. on June 2, Vietnam time and will be broadcast on K+PM channel.
