On the afternoon of March 30, a working group of 80 officers and professional soldiers of the Ministry of National Defense set off to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake. The commander-in-chief of the force is Major General Pham Van Ty - Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue.
Along with that, the working group of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security consists of 26 people, led by Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong - Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department.
This afternoon, at Noi Bai International Airport, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen - Deputy Minister of Public Security - encouraged forces to go to Myanmar to support overcoming the consequences of the earthquake.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that the Army's sending of forces to the host country to participate in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief demonstrates the superior foreign policy and high responsibility to the international community of the Party, State and people of Vietnam; at the same time, it demonstrates and affirms the prestige, sense of responsibility and capacity of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) in integration, international relations and international cooperation.
Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen - Deputy Minister of Public Security - also suggested that the working group must overcome all difficulties, the spirit of "helping friends as helping oneself", considering "your losses as your losses" to be determined and make efforts to help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the earthquake.
