Two strong European teams, Juventus and Manchester City, will face each other in the group stage match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. However, with both teams having secured tickets to the knockout round, there is not much to lose besides pride and motivation.
Under the leadership of former Lazio coach Igor Tudor, Juventus easily passed the group stage.
The Bianconeri made a statement in their opening match, beating Al Ain 5-0 after leading by 4 goals in the first half. They maintained that impressive form with an overwhelming 4-1 victory over Wydad Casablanca in their next appearance.
Meanwhile, Man City - a team that is going through a transition period with a new wave of new players - is still performing excellently.
Coach Pep Guardiola's students opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Wydad. They then crushed Al Ain 6-0 to affirm their position as a candidate for the championship.
Guardiola's side have entered the competition in the US after losing just one of their last 15 games in all competitions (W11 D3). Their only defeat in that time came against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
However, their only win in their last seven meetings with Juventus came in 1976 in the UEFA Cup (1-0).
Notably, Juventus have won all three of their most recent encounters with Man City, including a 2-0 win in the Champions League in December 2024.
