Manchester United is preparing to complete the first notable contract in the 2026 summer transfer window when reaching an agreement to sign midfielder Ederson from Atalanta with a total value of up to 45 million Euros.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal with the familiar saying "Here we go", marking the fact that the parties have basically completed all necessary procedures.
According to Romano, MU and Atalanta have agreed on a transfer fee of 45 million Euros, including additional terms. The deal is currently only waiting for a medical examination and final procedures before being officially announced, expected in early July.
Journalist David Ornstein revealed that the Old Trafford team will pay 40.5 million Euros in advance, plus 4.5 million Euros in surcharge. Personally, Ederson has agreed to sign a contract valid until June 2030, with an option to extend for another year.
The Brazilian midfielder has long been in the sights of many top European teams. However, Ederson prioritizes moving to Man United, thereby helping the English team gain an advantage in the race to sign him.
The fact that the contract between Ederson and Atalanta is only valid until 2027 also helps MU achieve a more comfortable fee compared to the figures rumored in previous transfer windows.
Ederson's appearance is considered an important step in the plan to rebuild the force under coach Michael Carrick. After Casemiro left the team, the midfield became an area that needed to be urgently strengthened and the Brazilian star is expected to fill that gap.
