Overview
Wolves are experiencing a disappointing 2025-2026 season when they have been stuck at the bottom of the Premier League table since the third round.
Coach Vitor Pereira has been sacked after failing to help Wolves win any of their first 10 matches in the league. However, even with the change of coaching staff, the yellow team still had to wait until round 20 to get their first Premier League victory.
After a 3-0 victory over West Ham United, Wolves continued to fall into a streak of 8 winless matches. This forgettable streak only ended when they surprised with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.
The Molineux home team then continued to create an earthquake when they defeated Liverpool 2-1 at the beginning of the week, with Andre's decisive goal in the 90+4 minute. This is also the first time Wolves have won 2 consecutive matches since a 6-match winning streak in April 2025.

Although their recent form has somewhat improved, Wolves' risk of relegation is still very high. They are 11 points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest when the season only has 8 rounds left, while the opponent still has 2 matches to play.
In contrast to their poor form in the Premier League, Wolves played quite impressively in cup competitions. They once defeated West Ham and Everton before losing narrowly to Chelsea 3-4 in the Carabao Cup. In the FA Cup, Wolves defeated Shrewsbury Town (6-1) and Grimsby Town (1-0) to advance to the 5th round.
Coach Rob Edwards certainly wants his team to continue to maintain their excitement and go deeper in the FA Cup, but defeating Liverpool once again will be an extremely difficult challenge.
On the other side, Liverpool is very determined to avenge the defeat to Wolves and return to the winning streak when the 2025-2026 season enters an important stage.
After winning the Premier League last season and spending heavily in the transfer market, Liverpool has failed to meet expectations. A series of poor results makes them currently only ranked fifth in the rankings and have to compete fiercely for a Champions League spot.
After 29 matches, Liverpool has 48 points with 14 wins, 6 draws and 9 defeats, 3 points behind Aston Villa and Manchester United. These two opponents even have the opportunity to widen the gap in the next rounds.
Despite facing difficulties in the Premier League, Liverpool showed strength in the FA Cup. They defeated Barnsley 4-1 in the third round before overcoming Brighton 3-0 in the fourth round.
With the opportunity to save the season with the FA Cup title, coach Arne Slot certainly wants his team to win to advance to the next round.
Despite just losing to Wolves, Liverpool still has a very impressive head-to-head record against this opponent, as they have won all six previous encounters.
