Immediately after Lao Dong Newspaper published the article "Waste accumulates for many days in Tra Vinh causing frustration" on February 3, 2026, the Office of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 442/VPUBND-KTN, conveying the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on urgently inspecting and reviewing the content reflected by Lao Dong Newspaper related to the situation of waste collection, transportation and treatment in Tra Vinh ward.
According to the official dispatch, the Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee assigned the Chairman of Tra Vinh Ward People's Committee to preside over and coordinate with provincial departments, branches and relevant units to urgently inspect and review content related to the situation of collecting, transporting and treating waste in the ward published in Lao Dong Newspaper; exchange, agree, and have handling plans according to their authority and regulations; in cases beyond their authority, report to the Provincial People's Committee (through the Department of Agriculture and Environment) for implementation direction.
Implementing the direction, Mr. Tran Van Thanh - Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Tra Vinh ward - said that the locality has worked directly with the garbage collection unit, Saigon Public Services Co., Ltd.
The ward requests businesses to increase the collection frequency, ensure that all garbage is transported during the day, and not let it accumulate causing frustration for people; and at the same time establish a dredging collection team to handle hot spots that generate waste.
Along with that, Saigon Public Utility Services Co., Ltd. has announced and specifically regulated the garbage disposal time frame. According to the announcement, households in street-front houses dispose of garbage from 7 pm to 8 pm, and houses in alleys from 6 pm to 7 pm to ensure convenient and effective collection.
In parallel with rectifying the operation of service units, Tra Vinh Ward People's Committee strengthens propaganda through the sound system, broadcasting, mobilizing people to raise awareness of environmental protection, littering at the right time, in the right place and packing tightly," Mr. Thanh added.
