Britney Spears was temporarily detained by authorities on March 4 after police discovered that the vehicle she was driving showed signs of traffic violations. The incident occurred in Westlake Village, California, not far from the female singer's residence.
According to information from the police communication system, a black BMW convertible was reported to be moving at high speed and constantly changing lanes. In the coordination recording, an officer said the car left the Los Angeles area and showed signs of steering back and forth between lanes.
After receiving the information, the patrol force proceeded to follow the vehicle and signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection. When approached, police confirmed that the driver was Britney Spears.
After stopping the car, Spears was taken to a medical facility for testing to determine blood alcohol concentration. This procedure is carried out according to regulations for cases suspected of driving when using alcoholic beverages.
After completing the sampling, the female singer continued to be taken to the prison of Ventura district to carry out the processing steps according to the procedure.
At about 3 am on March 5, Spears was arrested. At about 6 am on the same day, she was released on bail and left the detention facility. According to initial information, the female singer will have to appear in court on May 4 to resolve the case.
Currently, the police have not announced the official results of Spears' blood alcohol index. However, some sources said that the female singer told those around her that her measurement result was about 0.06, lower than the legal limit of 0.08 in California.
After the incident, Britney Spears' representative shared: "This is an unfortunate incident, Britney Spears will cooperate with the authorities as well as comply with legal regulations in the process of handling".
Previously, at the end of 2025, Spears was also recorded for unstable driving, swerving, and continuous lane changes after leaving a restaurant in the Thousand Oaks area.
