Overview
Serbia failed to capitalize on Denmark's defeat to catch up with their opponents before the final match. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland, and Serbia could have lost if not for Aleksa Terzic's goal in the 88th minute. So, despite losing to Spain, Denmark still maintained their second place, two points ahead of Serbia.
In the final match, Denmark only needs 1 point to officially win the ticket to the next round. However, with their recent poor form, Denmark has reason to worry. They have only won 1 point in the last 3 matches, which gives Serbia hope of catching up.
Denmark are too dependent on the creativity of conductor Christian Eriksen. Most of their dangerous moves have the mark of the Manchester United player. However, Eriksen is getting old and can no longer maintain the highest intensity. If they can block Eriksen, Serbia will have a basis to think about a positive result.
Of course, with only 1 point needed to qualify, Eriksen and his teammates have more options than their opponents. Defeating Serbia away from home is a difficult task for Denmark at the moment, but a draw is within their capabilities.
Serbia have a poor head-to-head record against Denmark, losing four of their last five meetings. This is their third meeting this year, with a 0-0 draw at EURO 2024 followed by a 2-0 win for Denmark in this season's Nations League.
Human resources situation
Experienced duo Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joachim Andersen are absent from Denmark through suspension, with coach Riemer likely to make some changes after a tough game against Spain.
On the other side of the front line, Serbia welcomes the return of Strahinja Pavlovic and Strahinja Erakovic. Vlahovic and Alexander Mitrovic could both play when the visitors need a win.
Expected lineup:
Serbia: Petrovic, Erakovic, Milenkovic, Pavlovic, Nedeljkovic, Maksimovic, Grujic, Terzic, Samardzic, Vlahovic, Mitrovic.
Denmark: Schmeichel, Bah, Vestergaard, Nelsson, Bah, Hjulmand, Norgaard, Dorgu, Eriksen, Hojlund, Gronbaek.
The match between Serbia and Denmark takes place at 2:45 a.m. on November 19 (Vietnam time).
