Arsenal's hatred of international breaks may deepen following Gabriel Martinelli's injury to Brazil.
Martinelli left Arsenal to return to the Selecao with high confidence after scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 5 matches. The 23-year-old came on as a substitute in Brazil's important 2-1 win over Chile in Santiago. However, there has been some bad news for Arsenal and Martinelli himself.
TNT Sports Brazil reported that Martinelli had calf problems in preparation for the match against Peru. The Arsenal player was spotted with Brazilian doctors for an injury scan.
The injury is not serious, but Arsenal fans will have to hold their breath and wait for the final result. This will be a familiar feeling for "Gunners" fans, after recent injuries to Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka on international duty.
Odegaard has been sidelined since suffering a serious injury in early September for Norway. The Arsenal captain is trying his best to return as soon as possible. Recently, another big blow came to The Gunners when Saka practiced leaving the field in England's 1-2 loss to Greece.
Saka was then left out of the squad for the match against Finland in Helsinki. The striker has returned to Arsenal to assess further the apparent hamstring problem. Fortunately, coach Lee Carsley then gave the news that all Arsenal fans wanted to hear.
"Saka is getting better, but it would be unfair to take a risk for him. He's a positive guy and I hope he's okay," Carsley said ahead of the game against Finland.
Arsenal will face Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend in the hope of extending their unbeaten streak. And of course, The Gunners will want Martinelli.
Martinelli has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
