On Saturday night (October 5) - Vietnam time, Arsenal had a comeback to beat Southampton 3-1 to maintain an incredible unbeaten record against newly promoted teams at Emirates Stadium (36 wins, 5 draws).
However, they still cannot surpass Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League rankings.
Before the match, statistics showed that Arsenal had every advantage to easily win the match. The Gunners entered the match proactively, taking control, but Southampton was the team that had the first shot on target.
Kyle Walker-Peters shot straight at David Raya from the edge of the box after the ball came to him from a corner.
Kai Havertz then headed the ball into the net from Declan Rice's corner, but the goal was ruled out for a foul in the box.
The Gunners' patience showed signs of running out as they began shooting from distance, but only Thomas Partey was still testing former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Gabriel Jesus' shot went wide early in the second half, and the hosts' wastefulness was punished. Mateus Fernandes was given the warning with a finish after Tyler Dibling's effort.
Minutes later, the visitors opened the scoring when Fernandes stole the ball from Raheem Sterling in midfield before passing to first-half substitute Cameron Archer, who finished beautifully to break the deadlock.
Southampton, however, could not maintain their lead for long. Bukayo Saka and Havertz combined well, bringing the German player's seventh consecutive home goal just three minutes after Arsenal conceded.
Ten minutes later, Saka was the architect again, playing a wonderful pass to substitute Gabriel Martinelli to tap home to make it 2-1. It was Saka's seventh assist in the Premier League this season.
In the 88th minute, Saka himself ended the match with the goal that sealed the score 3-1.
This victory extended the Gunners' unbeaten streak against Southampton to 29 matches (20 wins, 9 draws), and also caused The Saints to lose their 7th consecutive away match in the Premier League.
Currently, Arsenal has 14 points, equal to Man City but with a lower goal difference. Both teams are 1 point behind Liverpool.
