Super striker stuck at Chelsea

Striker Christopher Nkunku has been advised to leave Chelsea, as he struggles to compete for a starting spot with Nicolas Jackson.

Christopher Nkunku was once a top striker in Europe for Leipzig. In his last two seasons with the German club, he scored 58 goals. When he arrived at Chelsea, many believed that the French star would shine in the Premier League.

However, Nkunku encountered many difficulties at his new team. In his first season, he was injured and only played 14 matches. This season, it seemed like he would explode, but Nkunku was not appreciated by coach Enzo Maresca. He was often a reserve in the Premier League and only started in cup tournaments.

Former player Jason Cundy analyzed Nkunku's position, according to TalkSPORT: "Who is Nkunku? What is his best position? Who is this player? For me, he's a number 10, he can play on the left and he will play well in the last 20 minutes.

But he is not a centre-forward and has a very different style of play to Nicolas Jackson, so that leaves Chelsea with two different strikers when it comes to partnering Palmer.

I feel sorry for Nkunku because he is stuck between two positions. He is not a No. 9 and he cannot play No. 10. So where does his position end up? Jackson is doing a good job as a centre-forward and Nkunku is not taking his chances.”

Despite struggling at Chelsea, Nkunku's quality has clearly been confirmed. As a result, both Barcelona and Man United are now very interested in the French striker.

Cundy advised Nkunku to make the decision to leave: “I think he probably has to think about his future at the club, because there is no place in the system. Maresca has been very clear. Nkunku is only playing because of his price.”
