Manchester United have not ruled out keeping Casemiro in the squad, on the condition that the Brazilian midfielder accepts a significant reduction in his current salary.
The 33-year-old has been at Old Trafford since 2022 and is still among the club's highest earners. His contract will expire at the end of this season, with an additional 12-month extension clause.
Casemiro is almost certain to leave the Premier League next summer amid the interest of Saudi Pro League clubs. However, according to British media, the possibility of the Brazilian midfielder staying at Old Trafford has not been ruled out, although his current salary is considered not commensurate with his contribution on the pitch.
That also means the Red Devils have no intention of activating the contract extension clause in Casemiro's contract - a clause that helps him maintain a salary of around £300,000 per week. If Casemiro continues to stay after 2026, it will be a clear testament to the team's trust in Amorim, who has maintained his role despite criticism from superiors.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has harshly criticized Casemiro, implying that if he had been at the club at the time, the Brazilian midfielder's signing would not have taken place.
Speaking in March 2025, Ratcliffe said: "If you look at the players we signed up for this summer, as well as those we didn't should have bought, they are Antony, Casemiro, Onana, Hojlund and Sancho.
Some players are not good enough, and others may be receiving too high a salary. However, for us to be able to build a squad that we are fully responsible for, it will take more time. We are in a period of transformation, from the past to the future".
Before the interview was published, there were opinions that Ratcliffe opposed Casemiro's contract to the point of being willing to cancel it ahead of schedule.
However, despite not being appreciated by Amorim in the early stages of the season, Casemiro has gradually affirmed his important role in the Man United squad. The Brazilian midfielder started five of his seven Premier League games, missing just one game due to suspension after a red card against Chelsea.
Amorim has repeatedly praised the Brazilian veteran and revealed that he has adjusted the team's pressing structure to maximize his ability.
"We understand that he can't always push up to press. We need to help him understand his role, and sometimes it is better to arrange three central defenders, so that he becomes the fourth central defender, while the wing-backs can move up to put pressure" - said the Portuguese captain.
Too passionate about Casemiro's performance, Amorim is even said to have sent a personal message to Ratcliffe to mention the Brazilian midfielder, after he shined in the final stages of the Europa League last season.

In a group of influential figures at Man United, Amorim presented his views in a short report, adding data to clarify the case.
Casemiro scored in both of the Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao, and Amorim quickly proved to the M.U board the importance of the Brazilian midfielder to the current squad.
However, if he continues to lead Man United, Amorim is expected to look for a new midfielder in the transfer market. Carlos Baleba has been in contact since the summer - a deal that could be reviewed in 2026.
