In round 2 of the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, the Vietnamese futsal team won 2-0 against the Malaysian futsal team.
In the first half, coach Diego Raul Giustozzi's students played quite deadlocked and could not put pressure on the opponent's defense.
In the second half, Tu Minh Quang was the one who opened the score for the Vietnamese futsal team from the penalty spot in the 27th minute. Seven minutes later, Nguyen Thinh Phat unleashed a beautiful left-footed shot before the match ended.
Thus, after 2 matches, the Vietnamese futsal team has 6 full points (winning 2-0 against Malaysia, 4-1 against Timor Leste). However, Diego Raul Giustozzi's team is only ranked second in the group due to a goal difference behind Thailand (+5 compared to +19).
The Golden Temple team also won both matches against Timor Leste 7-1 and Brunei 13-0 and maintained the top position in the table.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian futsal team is in third place with 3 points (having only played 1 match). The bottom two positions are the Timor Leste and Brunei futsal teams, respectively, with no points (lost 2 matches).
