Striker Nguyen Le Phat of U23 Vietnam is being monitored for an injury after a recent training session, with the risk of missing the friendly tournament in China.

Le Phat suffered an injury on March 15, after a strong collision with a teammate while training at Ninh Binh club. After that, the player born in 2007 was taken to the hospital for examination. Initial diagnosis determined that he had a problem with his shoulder.

According to updated information from the managing team, Le Phat is still in the hospital to continue monitoring his injury condition. Ninh Binh FC said that this player cannot be discharged and needs more time to assess before determining his ability to return to play. Therefore, whether he will participate in the U23 Vietnam gathering or not has not been decided.

In case of unfavorable developments, Nguyen Le Phat may be absent from the gathering to prepare for the CFA Team China 2026 tournament. The U23 Vietnam team is expected to gather from March 17 in Hanoi under the guidance of acting coach Dinh Hong Vinh.

Nguyen Le Phat currently plays for Ninh Binh in the V.League. In the 2025-2026 season, he has played 5 matches and had 1 assist. Although still young, this player is considered one of the potential faces of Vietnamese youth football.

In the U23 Vietnam jersey, Le Phat once had the opportunity to play at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship. At this tournament, he scored 1 goal against U23 UAE and 1 assist in the match against U23 Kyrgyzstan. These contributions contributed to helping the U23 Vietnam team win a bronze medal.

If Le Phat is absent in the upcoming gathering, it is possible that the U23 Vietnam coaching staff will call up 1 more player to create competition in the attack.
