In the middle days of January, the construction site of the Ring Road 2.5 investment project, Dam Hong - National Highway 1A section, is always bustling with engine sounds, with no time to rest.
On the entire route, construction teams are deployed simultaneously, racing against time to keep up with the traffic opening schedule at the end of the month.
The project is divided into 5 bidding packages, including 3 main construction packages. Based on the volume of each item, contractors arrange suitable personnel and equipment to ensure progress according to the set plan.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Manh, project manager of Ring Road 2.5 (Hoang Mai Construction Investment Co., Ltd. - Hanoi) said that after the project was restarted in May 2025, contractors have mobilized maximum manpower and machinery to continuously deploy construction.
To date, the bidding packages have completed about 80-90% of the workload.
Before the requirement to complete the entire project by January 31, Mr. Manh said that contractors are focusing all their efforts on the final sprint, constructing "3 shifts, 4 teams" on the construction site.
Because there is not much time left, the investor and contractors encourage engineers and workers to stick to the construction site, with the common determination to bring the project to completion on schedule to serve the travel needs of the people, and gradually solve the traffic congestion bottlenecks of the city" - Mr. Manh said.
It is expected that after January 25, the Ring Road 2.5 section Dam Hong - National Highway 1A will be installed with a traffic sign system, painted with road markings, ready for traffic opening at the end of January.
The Ring Road 2.5 construction project, Dam Hong - National Highway 1A section, is invested in the form of a BT contract (build - transfer) with a length of 1.6 km, with a total investment of more than 1,300 billion VND.
The project started in 2014, expected to be completed in 2017 but was delayed.
By 2020, the project was temporarily suspended when it only reached about 40% of the workload. The reason is due to problems in site clearance and extension of BT contract appendices.
After 5 years of suspension, by the end of May 2025, with the permission of the Hanoi People's Committee, Hoang Mai - Hanoi Construction Investment Co., Ltd. (the project enterprise) organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ring Road 2.5 construction project, Dam Hong - National Highway 1A section.
This is one of the key traffic projects, of important significance in reducing congestion, synchronizing urban transport infrastructure, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the southern part of the city.
Hanoi Ring Road 2.5 has a total length of about 19.64km, planned width of 40-50m. Starting point in Ciputra New Urban Area, ending at the intersection with Ring Road 3 (section near Thanh Tri bridge).
To date, Ring Road 2.5 has been put into use 5/13 sections with a length of 11.28 km. The project is implementing 5 sections with a length of 6.1 km. The remaining 3 sections with a length of 2.26 km have just been approved for investment policy by Hanoi.
Regarding the Ring Road 2.5 project, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc requested the Party Committee and City People's Committee to direct the City People's Committee, departments, branches, and the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board; Party committees and ward authorities must clearly define political responsibilities to complete site clearance and complete the entire project in 2026.
