The Vietnam U23 team will participate in the CFA Team China - Xi'an 2026 international football tournament at the invitation of the Chinese Football Association. The tournament is scheduled to take place from March 25 to March 31 in Xi'an city, with the participation of 4 U23 teams in the region.
Besides U23 Vietnam and host U23 China, the tournament also has the participation of U23 Thailand and U23 DPRK. The teams will play in a round-robin format, each team will meet the remaining 3 opponents to determine the overall ranking after the end of the matches.
According to the schedule announced by the organizers, U23 Vietnam will start their journey at the tournament with a match against U23 DPRK on March 25. After that, the team will face U23 Thailand in the 2nd match taking place on March 28. In the last match on March 31, U23 Vietnam will face host U23 China.
To prepare for this tournament, U23 Vietnam is expected to gather in Hanoi from March 17. This gathering is to help the coaching staff review the force and build a framework for the young players in the next stage.
Participating in the international tournament in China is seen as an opportunity for young players to accumulate more playing experience. This is also part of the Vietnam Football Federation's long-term plan to develop a successor force for the national team, while aiming for major goals in the future such as ASIAD 2026.
