Ahead of round 24 of V.League 2024-2025, the match between Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Da Nang is attracting special attention not only because of its tense nature on the rankings, but also because of the proposal to invite foreign referees to officiate the match. This is a rare move in the Vietnam national championship.
Da Nang is the first team to make this proposal, with the reason that the match against Hoang Anh Gia Lai will have a big impact on the relegation race.
In the document sent to Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), the representative of the Han River football team emphasized: "This is an important match, expected to attract special attention from the public, fans and the media.
Therefore, we suggest that VPF consider inviting a group of prestigious foreign referees with high professional qualifications to ensure fairness and transparency in the match management work".
Immediately after the proposal from Da Nang, Hoang Anh Gia Lai had a positive response and officially sent a document to VPF expressing its agreement.
Notably, the mountain town team affirmed that they are willing to pay all costs to invite foreign referees, showing strong support for this proposal.
In the document sent to VPF, Hoang Anh Gia Lai wrote: "We welcome the goodwill of Da Nang club and completely agree with the plan to invite an international referee team to officiate the match.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai will cover all costs for the referees coming to Vietnam with the hope that the match will be fair, of good quality, serve the fans and contribute to the success of the tournament".
The match between Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Da Nang will take place at 5:00 p.m. on May 23 at Pleiku Stadium. This match is of an important nature, directly affecting the relegation goal of both teams.
