Midfielder Nguyen Duc Chien has decided to leave The Cong Viettel ahead of schedule to join Ninh Binh club - a team that has just been promoted to V.League next season.
However, if he wants to leave, he must pay the remaining contract compensation with the army team. Duc Chien's contract with The Cong Viettel is valid until August 24, 2025, the same day he turned 27.
However, the domestic transfer window before the 2025-2026 season will close on August 15. If he did not leave early, he would miss the first leg with Ninh Binh.
The Cong Viettel initially requested 3 billion VND for early contract release and after the negotiation process, Duc Chien agreed.
The relationship between the two sides has been tense since Duc Chien refused to extend. He was not in the squad for the last 3 matches of the season, including the semi-finals of the National Cup.
Like his close friend Hoang Duc - who left The Cong before the contract expiration last year, Duc Chien wants to find a new challenge. He signed a 3-year contract with Ninh Binh, receiving a signing bonus of about 6 billion VND/year.
Duc Chien grew up at The Cong Viettel training center, can play as a central defender or a defensive midfielder. He has scored 16 goals and assisted 8 times in 134 matches in the V.League.
