Hanoi - The Dong Da Lake renovation and renovation project (Dong Da District) with a total capital of nearly 300 billion VND is being accelerated.

People are happy

The project to renovate the technical infrastructure and landscape of Dong Da Lake was approved at the end of March 2024 and is being urgently implemented. At the construction site, the appearance of a new urban space is gradually becoming clear, bringing the excitement of the people living around.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lanh, a resident of Dong Da district, said that she and her neighbors are looking forward to the completion of the project to "return the clean and beautiful space".

"After the project is completed, it will reduce the noise for people around here and make it green and clean for people to walk. I used to think that this lake was somewhat polluted, but now I see it as clean, green-clean-beautiful. At this point, it is also neat and temporarily stable for the surrounding people, less noisy" - Ms. Lanh said.

According to the design, the sidewalks around the lake are paved with natural stone, the old railings are replaced with a new system combined with modern high-quality glass. Along with that is an LED lighting system, seats, exercise equipment and a stage, a grandstand floating out to the lake.

Witnessing the rapid construction progress, Mr. Dao Anh Duc, another resident of Dong Da district, commented: "The progress is very good now. It is almost like making progress very quickly, being as compact as possible".

Mr. Duc also expressed his hope that the project would "urge success as soon as possible" so that people have a true playground and a separate space for morning sports, "without affecting the daily routes of traffic here".

From a degraded obsession to a new landscape icon

Before the project was implemented, Dong Da Lake (also known as Hoang Cau Lake) in the memory of many people was a degraded and polluted area. In fact, many people in Dong Da district also expressed their joy when the project is gradually erasing their obsession with a polluted, foul-smelling area as before.

Currently, the shape of important items has been clearly shown. The walking path along the lake is being urgently paved with stone by workers' groups. The new railing system has been installed. The stage and grandstand floating on the lake - the highlight of the project - have basically completed the reinforced concrete structure.

The renovation of Dong Da Lake is also a part of the overall effort of the whole city. At the explanation meeting of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi People's Council in early June, the Department of Construction said that as of the first quarter, the city had completed the renovation and construction of 70 new parks and flower gardens, reaching 140% of the target assigned by the City Party Committee. This is a great effort of Hanoi to create a space for community activities, improve the quality of life and beautify the urban appearance.
