After the regrettable 1-1 draw with U17 UAE on the night of April 10 (Vietnam time) and missing the ticket to the 2025 U17 World Cup, coach Cristiano Roland shared his feelings about the journey of U17 Vietnam.
Although he could not win a ticket to continue as set, the Brazilian coach still expressed his pride in the spirit and gradual maturity of his players.
Football always has unexpected developments in the last minute. We have prepared very carefully for this important match. The players played with all their strength and solidarity. Even though I cannot continue, I am still very proud of the performance of the whole team, coach Cristiano Roland shared.
Looking back on the journey of U17 Vietnam through 3 matches at the U17 Asian tournament 2025, coach Cristiano Roland highly appreciated the experiences that young players accumulated: “From the first days of training until the tournament and the final match, the whole team has constantly developed.
The players are not only mature in their expertise but also nurture greater aspirations for their careers. They are the future of Vietnamese football, said coach Cristiano Roland.
Facing regret and sadness after the match, coach Cristiano Roland encouraged his players: In the dressing room after the match, I told the players to lift their heads. The most important thing for them at this age is to accumulate experience and keep their will. We still have a long way to go, and this journey is just getting started.
Coach Cristiano Roland also thanked the Vietnam Football Federation for their attention to the team in preparing for the tournament.
He said that the Federation has created the best conditions for the U17 team to have careful and thoughtful preparation. From training, friendly matches to professional support, all have shown serious investment in youth football.
With such support, I believe Vietnamese football will continue to reap achievements in the future, coach Cristiano Roland emphasized.
