Coach Kim Sang-sik returned to his country on January 11 after attending the 2024 Winners Cup. He reunited with his wife and two children, taking time to rest before returning to work.
Previously, during his 8 months working in Vietnam, coach Kim Sang-sik lived alone in the Vietnam Football Federation campus.
"I couldn't properly invite my family to Vietnam because I had to focus on my coaching duties. However, I'm very happy because this championship has helped me repay my family in some way.
When I returned home, my daughter asked to take a selfie with me. At that moment, I felt like I was flying in the clouds. I will continue to be a father who makes my daughter proud with good results," coach Kim Sang-sik told Korean media.
According to the schedule, coach Kim Sang-sik will return to Vietnam on January 17 to continue working and prepare for the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. In particular, Mr. Kim may bring his family along.
"When receiving the awards, I want to invite my parents, wife and children to delicious meals. That culture is probably similar to the Vietnamese people. During the Lunar New Year, I will stay in Vietnam and invite my family to come here to learn about Vietnamese culture and travel," coach Kim Sang-sik once shared with Lao Dong.
Regarding the upcoming plan, Mr. Kim Sang-sik emphasized: "My work is still very busy. I want to find new talents to help Vietnamese football compete more strongly in the Asian arena. The immediate challenge will be the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, and at the end of this year is the 33rd SEA Games. Everything is waiting ahead."
Immediately after returning to Vietnam, coach Kim Sang-sik is expected to go to Hang Day Stadium to watch the match between Hanoi Police Club and Song Lam Nghe An in V.League on January 18.
