Over 450 km to Can Tho
According to reporters' records on January 15, many types of flowers and ornamental plants grown locally and from other provinces and cities were transported and sold along some central roads of Ninh Kieu district (Can Tho city) such as 30/4, Tran Van Hoai...
To serve the people's Tet holiday needs, Mr. Tran Quoc Tinh (O Mon district, Can Tho city) invested in about 4,000 large crystal and diamond chrysanthemum pots planted in Da Lat (Lam Dong province). These flowers have traveled more than 450 km to Can Tho and have been on sale in front of the Military Zone 9 Museum and Vincom Xuan Khanh (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) for nearly a week now.
“I bring Tet flowers to the streets earlier than every year. The market is not very busy yet, but because I grow them far away, I have to transport them early so that the leaves and flowers are fresh and do not affect the quality. In addition to chrysanthemums, I also sell other flowers and ornamental plants such as apricot and almond trees,” said Mr. Tinh.
This year, Mr. Nguyen Phung Minh Hung (Xuan Khanh Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) plans to import 8,000 orchid branches to serve Can Tho people during Tet. Instead of just selling at the store like every year, Mr. Hung has participated in the spring flower market and brought orchids to the street with a more spacious space.
Mr. Hung's staff are busy decorating orchids in pots with a variety of designs, serving the people's Tet needs: "In previous years, I mainly sold at small stores and locations, making it difficult for people to choose the products they want. This year, the ward organized a convenient location like this, I hope the flowers will be supported by more people," Mr. Hung shared.
Not spending money yet
Flowers and ornamental plants for Tet have been on the streets for nearly a week now, but Ms. Bui Thi Thu (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) said that it is still quite early to shop. Ms. Thu said she will wait a few days, when more Tet flowers are on sale, to have more choices in terms of designs and prices.
“These days, I have seen chrysanthemums, orchids, etc. starting to appear on the streets in bright colors. However, I want to wait until the weekend, when there are more stalls with more choices and I can compare prices to buy products that fit my budget,” said Ms. Thu.
Meanwhile, due to her busy work schedule, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang - an office worker in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city - decided to wait until near Tet holiday to start shopping for flowers and ornamental plants to decorate her house.
“The shopping atmosphere is still quite quiet, I think it will be more bustling around December 20. These past few days, I have also consulted some types of chrysanthemums with prices ranging from 250,000 to a million VND/pair, depending on size and type. I think that when Tet holiday comes, I will have more time, shop more comfortably and choose more satisfactory products,” said Ms. Trang.
