Striker Bui Vi Hao entered the training camp with U23 Vietnam in Qatar with a special mindset, when facing the opportunity to participate in the AFC U23 Championship for the second consecutive time.
On the sidelines of the 2nd training session of the whole team, Vi Hao said: "My feelings are very special when the coach called me back to gather with U23 Vietnam. After a year of successful competition, most recently the SEA Games 33 gold medal, the whole team is having a very good spirit and confidence.
According to Vi Hao, the results achieved in the past time are an important foundation, but at the same time also set higher requirements for the whole team when preparing to face strong opponents such as Jordan, Kyrgyzstan or host Saudi Arabia in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.
Recalling the memory of scoring 2 goals in the opening match at the AFC U23 Championship 2 years ago, the striker born in 2003 considers it a memorable milestone but not something to be complacent about.
In the previous tournament, I scored 2 goals and made certain contributions to the team. That gives me more confidence, but I understand that everything must start over, no one is sure of a spot," Vi Hao shared.
The striker born in 2003 affirmed that his personal goal at this time is to focus maximally on each training session, compete fairly to be named in the list of 23 official players participating in the tournament.
Regarding his fitness condition, Bui Vi Hao said that he has completely overcome his injury: "After recovering, currently my ball feel and fitness have reached 100%. I feel very confident and ready for the high intensity training phase. I will try my best and be ready to contribute if the coaching staff gives me a chance to play".
U23 Vietnam has entered the third training session in Qatar. After the first two days of focusing on improving fitness and releasing fatigue, coach Kim Sang-sik adjusted the lesson plan, reducing the intensity of exercise but increasing the duration of ball exercises.
The main lesson plan revolves around ball control, organizing attacks and finishing the goal. The players maintain excitement, high concentration and positive competition on the field.
This training session is important in the process of preparing for the closed friendly match with U23 Syria tonight (December 30), before the team moves to Saudi Arabia, officially entering the journey at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.
