The players who started the match against the Philippines yesterday (December 18) focused on stretching exercises to reduce muscle tension and restore energy. Meanwhile, the players who played less often trained with a higher volume to maintain their physical strength and be ready for the next matches.
Before the training session, Head of Delegation Tran Anh Tu met and encouraged the whole team. Head of Delegation Tran Anh Tu also, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation, encouraged the players, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and determination in the upcoming journey.
This afternoon, the players will have free time to rest in preparation for the flight back to Vietnam that evening. The team will depart from Manila at 11pm local time and is expected to land at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) at 1:40am on December 20. After that, the whole team will move to Viet Tri to prepare for the final group stage match against Myanmar, taking place at 8pm on December 21 at Viet Tri Stadium.
With the current results, the Vietnamese team has a great opportunity to advance to the semi-finals of the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship. With just 1 more minimum point, the Vietnamese team will certainly win a ticket to the semi-finals as group leader.
However, a draw at home is not what coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are aiming for. “We have prepared thoroughly and will play with the highest spirit. Our goal is to win,” coach Kim Sang-sik affirmed.
