For over a year now, working as a warehouse clerk at a pharmaceutical company in Phu Tho province, Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy Ha has had a stable life with a decent income. In addition, she also has more time to take care of her children because her work is only limited to the time at the company, not having to bring it home to do.
To adapt to the new environment when she was over 40 years old, she had to change herself a lot. In addition to improving her professional knowledge, Ms. Ha also learned some other skills, especially memorizing the names of medicines.
"At first, when I thought about quitting my job, I pondered over many issues. For workers of my age, would any company accept to hire me? How is the environment in a private enterprise different from that in a state-owned enterprise?..." - Ms. Ha confided about her worries before deciding to quit her job in a state-owned enterprise.
To make the decision to quit her job after 14 years and 6 months as a civil servant, the female accountant born in 1981 also "put it down" for a very long time.
Ms. Ha said that in 2009, she started working at a secondary school in Thanh Thuy district, Phu Tho province. In 2012, she completed her university studies and was transferred to a secondary accounting position, receiving a salary of an intermediate accountant.
In April 2014, she received a decision to transfer her job to a secondary school in Lam Thao district, Phu Tho province, and received a salary of about 6.1 million VND/month. Ms. Ha confided that compared to many other school accountants, this income was considered moderate, although she had to save money and do a lot of extra work.
In August 2023, the female employee received another notice of transfer to another kindergarten in Lam Thao district. After considering many factors, she decided to resign.
"Many people still think that working in this profession only requires waiting until the end of the month to receive money, and distributing salaries to staff, teachers, and students, without understanding how much pressure accounting puts on them," said Ms. Ha, expressing her wish that her former colleagues would be guaranteed full benefits regarding salary and other benefits.
According to Ms. Ha, courageously "leaving the comfort zone" is what officials, civil servants, and public employees should do when implementing the revolution of streamlining the organizational apparatus. However, in addition to having the determination to leave, the civil servants themselves also need to prepare mentally, professionally, and have the spirit of learning even when they are no longer young.
Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that the Ministry has completed the draft Decree on the regime and policies for cadres, civil servants, public employees and contract workers in the organizational arrangement of the political system. The draft Decree will be reported to the competent authority in the near future.
The head of the Ministry of Home Affairs also emphasized that mechanisms and policies will focus on special and outstanding priorities to encourage people to retire immediately and within 12 months from the time the agency, organization, or unit implements the arrangement and streamlining.
