Happy with your own choice
Currently, Mr. Dao Huy Toan (born in 1985, residing in Van Yen district, Yen Bai province) is the owner of a grocery store and mobile phone repair shop in Yen Bai province. However, even when busy until late at night, Mr. Toan still feels happy with the choice he made that year.
6 years ago, Mr. Toan was an accountant at an elementary school and also in charge of accounting work at a kindergarten in Yen Bai.
In addition to his main professional job of being in charge of paying salaries, allowances for teachers and benefits for students in mountainous areas at Point 2 of the school, he also does other jobs such as: clerical, miscellaneous, library...
When working at two schools at the same time, Mr. Toan often has to travel from the commune to Van Yen district. The roads in the highlands are very difficult, especially dangerous when it rains heavily, floods are very likely to cause landslides.
“With such a concurrent job, I had to be away for more than ten days a month because I had to deal with departments in the district. At that time, there were no public services, the work was hard, I had to travel a lot, rent a place to stay and rest, which cost a lot of money,” Toan confided.
Although the work is a lot, Toan's salary is only about 4 million VND/month, including all allowances. To support his family, this man has taken on repairing phones at home - something he has had to do continuously for 11 years and 9 months working as a school accountant.
Had arguments with family
In early 2019, Mr. Toan went to the Department of Education and Training of Van Yen district to submit his resignation. After expressing his wishes, he was encouraged by his superiors to continue working, but he had long been thinking about quitting.
With a family tradition of civil servants, when he intended to quit his job, Toan faced strong opposition from his father. However, his mother supported his decision, because as a teacher, she understood the difficulties and hardships of school accountants, including her son.
“I spent many sleepless nights thinking hard about quitting the job I had worked hard for and devoted myself to for many years. I also had to convince my father to let me quit my job so that the family would not be stressed and unable to talk,” Toan confided.
Not long ago, Toan finished building a new house without having to struggle to borrow money. His family's life is not rich but not in poverty or hardship. His freelance business also helps him to be proactive in terms of time and other family chores.
At this time, the whole country is both highly focused on completing the political goals and tasks of 2024 and implementing a streamlined revolution in organizational structure.
According to Mr. Toan, the revolution in streamlining the organizational apparatus requires the courage and daring to "step out" of the staff, civil servants and public employees. He also expressed his hope that those who remain will have a salary and appropriate treatment, so that they can focus on their work and continue to contribute.
Regarding the development of policies and regimes for cadres, civil servants and public employees when reorganizing the apparatus, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has completed the draft Decree and reported it to competent authorities.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs advises this policy with the general viewpoint and principle that the mechanism and policy are also revolutionary, that is, fast, strong, outstanding, humane, fair, ensuring reasonable correlation between subjects, aiming to stabilize life, ensure rights and interests for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers so that no one is left behind in the process of arranging and streamlining the organizational apparatus.
