In the early morning of April 10 (Vietnam time), U17 Thailand entered the final match against U17 China in the final match of Group A of the 2025 U17 Asian Cup finals.
Despite being eliminated, U17 Thailand is still determined to win to say goodbye to the tournament in honor, and at the same time end a 40-year streak of not beating China at the U16/U17 Asian level. The Southeast Asian youth team started quite well, creating some dangerous opportunities in the first half.
Nattakit Phothisri and Siwakorn Polsan both had notable shots. However, inaccuracy prevented Thailand from scoring an opening goal.
In the second half, the game quickly reversed. In the 55th minute, China U17 was awarded a penalty after a foul by Pramet La-ongdee. Boonying Abdulsalam easily defeated the Thai goalkeeper to open the score.
Three minutes later, Jiang Xiqin finished in the penalty area, raising the score to 2-0 and almost extinguishing all hopes of Thailand.
Despite trying to push up to find an equalizer, U17 Thailand could not take advantage of the opportunities created. They left the tournament with 3 consecutive defeats, becoming 1 of 2 teams without points along with Afghanistan, but were behind due to a higher goal difference. This was a disappointing tournament for the Southeast Asian representative.
