On the morning of November 6, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the UEFA/AFC Women's Football Development Support Project Workshop took place.
Accordingly, VFF is honored to be one of five national football federations along with Thailand, Taiwan (China), Uzbekistan and Lebanon to receive attention from the UEFA/AFC Women's Football Development Support Project for countries developing women's football.
This is an opportunity for Vietnamese football to approach and exchange with leading football experts, get closer to advanced football backgrounds in the world, thereby learning, exchanging professional experiences, implementing innovation and professionalization in fields related to football development.
Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of VFF - emphasized: "Over the years, VFF has consistently maintained the viewpoint of mobilizing all resources for the development of Vietnamese football, in which women's football is an aspect that has received attention and investment with a long-term plan.
This has brought success when the Vietnamese women's team won the right to participate in the 2023 Women's World Cup finals in New Zealand, initially affirming the name of Vietnamese women's football on the world football map.
This success has opened up many opportunities for the women's team from the national team level to the youth teams to receive more attention and investment. At the same time, to maintain and develop sustainably, Vietnamese women's football needs a long-term plan, precise orientation combined with both domestic and international resources.
VFF hopes that the workshop will be a premise for meaningful programs and activities, bringing practical benefits to the development of Vietnamese women's football."
Ms. Lowri Robert - UEFA representative - said: "UEFA will accompany in supporting the development of Vietnamese women's football in the next 3 years. We have 4 related initiatives, in which, the most important is the long-term development, creating sustainability for the operation of Vietnamese women's football. I believe that Vietnamese women's football has made great progress.
Recently, the Vietnamese women's team participated in the 2023 Women's World Cup, and the Ho Chi Minh City women's club reached the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League. This is an opportunity to continue to raise the level of Vietnamese women's football. I hope that professional women's clubs or the Vietnamese women's team will inspire girls to pursue a career in football in the near future."
