As previously announced, the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final between Vietnam and Thailand will be held at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho province.
The Vietnamese team often gets very good results when competing here. At the same time, the stands are always filled whether it is a group stage match or a semi-final match.
However, when it comes to the economic issue, hosting the 2024 ASEAN Cup final at My Dinh Stadium will bring greater benefits. First, the capacity of My Dinh National Stadium is up to more than 40,000 seats, while Viet Tri Stadium can only accommodate a maximum of 18,000 fans.
In previous matches, minus the number of invitation tickets and the area for the away team, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) had about 28,000 tickets sold for matches at My Dinh Stadium.
But at Viet Tri stadium, the number of tickets sold after deducting 8% of seats for the away team and invitation tickets for sponsors, local authorities, and team members, is only about 11,000 - 12,000 tickets.
Not to mention, the ticket areas of Viet Tri Stadium have quite nice seats. Because there are few seats and the number of seats in stands C and D accounts for a large proportion, the total ticket revenue of VFF is significantly reduced. However, the rental fee of Viet Tri Stadium is lower than My Dinh.
After deducting related organization costs, the Vietnamese team can bring in several billion VND for the 2024 ASEAN Cup final.
Meanwhile, with a large grandstand area, My Dinh Stadium can arrange many different ticket areas, the number of good seats - sold at high prices increases significantly. At My Dinh Stadium, the number of VIP rooms is not small.
On the contrary, the cost of renting the stadium to hold the final and the security costs are also much higher in Phu Tho. VFF can still earn 3 times more revenue when organizing in Viet Tri.
However, this unit still understands that football is the top priority at this time. My Dinh Stadium has not yet recovered its turf after 2 music shows, and is not suitable for hosting an international football tournament. It is completely reasonable for the Vietnamese team to play the final in Phu Tho.
The first leg final between Vietnam and Thailand will take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 2 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).
