V.League 2024-2025 opens with many new points

VAR is more widely applied

One of the most anticipated elements of LPBank V.League 2024-2025 compared to the previous season is the wider application of VAR. With the addition of 2 VAR cars, this technology will appear in matches in the Central and Southern regions.

This helps improve the quality of matches, and the referee team will have the necessary tools to better control the match, especially in difficult situations.

As every year, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) have actively conducted training courses and referee training. Here, the "judging force" in matches of Vietnam's professional football tournaments are updated with the latest changes in football laws, reviewing situations that occurred in previous seasons to gain common experience.

More importantly, the VFF Referee Board has organized physical and professional tests for referees and assistant referees before the season. As a result, 100% of referees and assistant referees met the requirements, thereby demonstrating a spirit of serious preparation and professionalism.

Each team gets one more overseas Vietnamese player slot.

From 2023, each team in the V.League will be allowed to register one overseas Vietnamese player. This has created a positive effect on football in general as many players with Vietnamese blood want to return to play in their homeland. Thanks to that, last season, the V.League saw the appearance of more quality overseas Vietnamese players such as Patrik Le Giang, Pierre Lamothe, Viktor Le or especially Nguyen Filip - the goalkeeper who has officially received citizenship and been called up to the Vietnam national team.

Following this success, VFF allows football teams to register 2 overseas Vietnamese slots in the 2024-2025 season. This is a necessary step to give players with Vietnamese blood more opportunities to compete in the V.League. This immediately created a wave of overseas Vietnamese players coming to try out, in which the most notable name is Jason Quang Vinh Pendant playing for Hanoi Police.

In addition, fans can also look forward to other bright names such as Zan Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City), Adou Minh (Hong Linh Ha Tinh), Kyle Colonna (Hanoi FC)... These are players who promise to bring new colors to Vietnamese football.

Diverse tactical styles

Along with the development of football, V.League has increasingly appeared many different tactical styles. From there, football teams are gradually defining the identity they want to pursue, in order to create their own mark in the eyes of domestic football fans.

In this respect, Dong A Thanh Hoa is the team that has made the most significant impression. With the appearance of coach Velizar Popov, this team has demonstrated a dedicated and fiery style of play. Thanks to that, the Thanh club has achieved great success in the National Cup arena in the past two seasons, plus the 2023 National Super Cup title.

Meanwhile, teams like Quy Nhon Binh Dinh and Ho Chi Minh City are representatives of the defensive-counterattacking school. Thanks to that, they have won high positions in the 2023-2024 season, despite their somewhat inferior strength compared to the championship candidates.

In addition, V.League also has representatives of the ball control, coordination and strong pressure style to open up scoring opportunities. This is a common style in championship competing teams such as Nam Dinh Steel Blue, Hanoi or The Cong - Viettel. After a summer of strong reinforcements, these teams promise to bring a fierce competition for the championship of LPBank V.League 2024-2025.

Of course, the most important thing to create an attractive match is the players. V.League is the highest level tournament in Vietnam, so it is also where the top stars of the country's football gather.

Names like Quang Hai, Van Quyet, Tuan Hai, Tien Linh or Hoang Duc promise to bring beautiful and attractive football to fans, thereby helping their clubs complete the goals set from the beginning.
