On April 4, Krong Buk Health Center (Dak Lak province) said that the unit had just recorded an outbreak of mumps at Pham Hong Thai Elementary School (Cu Pong commune).
Previously, on April 3, the health sector discovered many cases of suspected mumps in students in Cu Pong commune. Initial investigation revealed that cases appeared sporadically in 5 classes, belonging to grades 1 to 3.
To date, 9 cases have been recorded, all of whom are students of Pham Hong Thai Elementary School.
The children have typical symptoms such as fever, swelling and pain in the parotid area, difficulty chewing and swallowing, and fatigue. Severe complications have not yet been recorded. However, the risk of spread is highly assessed due to the school environment with close contact density.
Mr. Tran Thuan, Director of Krong Buk Medical Center, said: "Immediately after recording the cases, the grassroots health force has implemented epidemic prevention and control measures, including promoting propaganda to raise people's awareness.
On the morning of April 4, the entire school grounds were sprayed with disinfectant. At the same time, the health sector coordinated with the school to clean classrooms, toys and tables and chairs to limit the risk of infection.
