Healthy foods help reduce the risk of liver disease
Dr Sanjiv Saigal, President of the Indian liver Transplant Association, affirmed: Gan has strong self-healing ability. The damage caused by alcohol, processed foods, or sedentary lifestyles can be reversed if we make timely changes.
Mr. Saigal emphasized that adopting a diet rich in fruits, green vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins not only helps prevent but also supports liver regeneration, helping to reduce the risk of liver disease by 50%.
When patients switch to a balanced diet, limiting processed foods and alcohol, liver enzymes will improve, recovery energy levels and long-term health outcomes will be significantly better. The first step you need to take is to read food labels and reduce your dependence on processed foods, says Saigal.
liver disease is no longer limited to alcohol abuse
Not only alcohol, more and more people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This is the result of unhealthy eating, being overweight and lazy to exercise.
A study published in Frontiers in Nutrition analyzed data from more than 121,000 people and showed that people who eat a high-inflammatory diet have a 16% increased risk of chronic liver disease.
In contrast, the Mediterranean diet and anti-inflammatory diets significantly reduce this risk.
Dr. Abhideep Chaudhary, Vice President of the Indian liver Transplant Association, warned: Many people have fatty liver disease but do not know they are suffering from it. Mr. Chaudhary recommends increasing the intake of fresh foods, limiting sugary drinks and ultra-processed foods, and maintaining a regular physical exercise routine.
Another study in the journal Nutrients also showed that obese children who consume a lot of fructose (sugar found in soft drinks and fast food) are at high risk of developing fatty liver disease and metabolic disorders. This shows the urgent need to control sugar in the diet, especially for young children.
According to doctors, the liver performs more than 500 vital functions such as detoxification, digestion support and metabolic regulation. It is time for the community to properly recognize the role of the liver and proactively protect this organ through a healthy lifestyle and consumption of fresh foods rich in fruits, green vegetables, and lean meat.
