On July 11, information from the People's Committee of Bac Ha commune said that the locality is urgently implementing measures to prevent and control foot-and-mouth disease on livestock after detecting positive samples of the disease-causing virus at Bac Ha livestock market.
Accordingly, the Commune People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to advise on the establishment of a Steering Committee for Measles prevention and control; strengthen propaganda to help people implement biosafety farming, disinfection and strictly control people and vehicles entering and leaving the farming area.
The locality also mobilized livestock households to sign commitments not to hide the epidemic, not to buy, sell, transport or slaughter sick or suspected sick livestock.

At the same time, organize disease surveillance, trace the origin of livestock batches related to positive test samples, review the total herd and deploy emergency vaccination when vaccines are sufficient.
Notably, Bac Ha Commune People's Committee has decided to temporarily suspend the trading, gathering and transshipment of livestock at Bac Ha livestock market from July 11, 2026 until the epidemic is controlled and there is a new notice.
During the time the market temporarily suspends operations, functional forces are assigned to strengthen patrols, inspections, and strictly handle cases of bringing livestock into illegal trading and gathering; and at the same time inspect the transportation of livestock and animal products to prevent the risk of disease spread.
