Towards workers, spreading the initiative movement in Workers' Month 2026

On April 2, in an exchange with reporters, Mr. Do Duc Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union said that this year, Workers' Month takes place in a special context, associated with the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 – May 1, 2026), thereby continuing to affirm the position and role of the working class in the cause of national development, and at the same time promoting the concern of the whole society for the direct labor force.

Innovation - a driving force to improve productivity

According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, with the theme "Vietnamese Workers: Innovation, improving labor productivity", Workers' Month 2026 in the Electricity industry aims not only to care for life but also to arouse the spirit of creativity, responsibility and aspiration to contribute of workers.

One of the important highlights is the peak implementation of the "Creative Labor" emulation movement associated with the "10,000 Initiatives in EVN" Program for the period 2025–2028. Trade union levels will focus on promptly discovering and praising technical innovations, solutions to improve production and business efficiency, especially initiatives with great benefits and scalability.

This is considered an important solution to improve labor productivity in the context that the Electricity industry is promoting digital transformation, optimizing operation and ensuring national energy security.

In parallel with emulation movements, the "May Dialogue" program and the forum "Union members contribute ideas to build Vietnam Trade Unions in the new era" will be organized synchronously at all levels of trade unions.

Through these activities, workers have the opportunity to directly express their thoughts, aspirations, and recommendations to business leaders and Party committees and authorities. At the same time, this is also a widespread political activity before the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, contributing to completing documents, innovating the organizational model and improving the effectiveness of trade union activities in the new period.

Comprehensive care for the lives of workers

One of the pillars of Workers' Month is the "Thank you workers" program, with a series of practical care activities both materially and spiritually.

Electricity trade union levels will coordinate with businesses to organize visits and support for union members in difficult circumstances, who have had labor accidents, and suffer from occupational diseases; implement "Trade Union Meals" to improve the quality of meals, especially for workers working in heavy and hazardous environments.

In addition, periodic health check-ups, psychological counseling, organizing family festivals, and cultural and sports activities are also promoted, contributing to improving the quality of life and creating cohesion between workers and businesses and trade union organizations.

Notably, social security support programs such as building "Trade Union Homes", "Colleague Houses", eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses continue to be implemented, showing the role of the trade union organization in accompanying and sharing with workers.

Workers' Month 2026 is also a peak period of propaganda about the struggle tradition of the working class, the role of trade union organizations in the political system. The propaganda contents are deployed diversely, from direct activities to the digital environment, contributing to raising political and legal awareness for workers.

In particular, trade unions at all levels will focus on discovering and fostering outstanding union members, introducing them to Party organizations for consideration and admission, thereby gradually improving the quality of the worker contingent, meeting development requirements in the new situation.

According to the plan, 100% of grassroots trade unions in Vietnam Electricity Group must have at least one activity to respond to Workers' Month. The activities are required to be organized practically, in accordance with actual conditions, taking the effectiveness and satisfaction of workers as a measure.

The attachment of Workers' Month to the Action Month on occupational safety and health also shows an increasingly clear concern for working conditions, health and safety of workers in the Electricity industry - a field with many dangerous and toxic factors.
