Strive for at least 30% of initiatives to be applied in practice
On March 17, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong signed and issued a plan to Organize Workers' Month activities in 2026. Notably, the goal is to practically organize Workers' Month activities associated with the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026 and the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1, with focus and key points, mainly organized at the grassroots level, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate. Activities must be practical, taking workers as the center, grassroots trade unions as the foundation for deployment, digital transformation as a tool, and effectiveness as a measure.
The Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of Trade Unions at all levels proactively advise Party committees, propose to the same-level authorities and employers to direct and coordinate the organization of Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026 to ensure quality and efficiency. Mobilize social resources and employers to better care for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers.
The target of Workers' Month 2026 is to strive for 70% of enterprises with 100 or more employees to implement at least one activity to respond to Workers' Month 2026, spreading in the press and media; Strive for 10% of union members and workers to participate in proposing initiatives, technical improvements, and solutions to improve labor productivity; of which at least 30% of initiatives are applied in practice at agencies, units, and enterprises.
Trade union levels continue to organize effective activities, which are widely welcomed by union members and workers, and are concerned and supported by Party committees, authorities, and employers at all levels; and at the same time focus on implementing a number of activities including: Organizing the "May Dialogue" Program and the "Union Members Contributing Opinions to Building Vietnam Trade Union in the New Era" Forum; Organizing the "Thank You Workers" Program and caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers; Organizing the "Labor Skills - Sustainable Employment Day" Festival; Organizing the Peak Month to promote the innovation movement, digital initiatives, and improve labor productivity; Organizing the Peak Month for developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions; introducing the development of party members and workers; Organizing the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1st and propaganda about the working class and trade union organizations.
The VGCL will coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant agencies to organize the Launching Ceremony of Workers' Month - Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026; Organize the Ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day; commend outstanding grassroots trade union presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation. Organize a preliminary review of 05 years of implementing Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW, dated May 18, 2021 on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 of the 12th Politburo on promoting studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style; commend advanced examples of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style in the period 2023-2025. Organize the opening ceremony of the 2026 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament.
Many activities are expected by workers
Activities that union members and workers expect and respond to in previous Workers' Months will continue to be promoted. Trade union levels advise, propose, and coordinate to organize for heads of Party committees and authorities at the same level and employers to contact and dialogue with union members and workers in accordance with actual conditions. Organizing the Forum "Union members contribute opinions to build Vietnam Trade Union in the new era" becomes a widespread political activity among union members and workers before the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union; promoting democracy, the central role of union members and workers; gathering opinions, recommendations, and aspirations of union members and workers to contribute opinions to build and complete the Documents of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union (amended), and complete the organizational model, improving the effectiveness of trade union activities in the new context.
The Trade Union coordinates with employers to organize practical activities, such as visiting, giving gifts, supporting workers in difficult circumstances, female workers and trade union officials. Activities include welfare booths, improving lunch meals, supporting workers' activities, periodic health check-ups and organizing family and worker culture festivals, aiming to improve the lives and spirit of union members and workers.
