Lemon tea is quite a popular drink, especially in hot weather. However, people with some of the following diseases are advised not to drink too much lemon tea as it can negatively affect their health.
Gastric and duodenal ulcers
People with gastric and duodenal ulcers should limit drinking lemon tea because the citric acid in lemon can increase stomach acidity, irritate the mucosa and make ulcers worse.
In particular, when consuming too much lemon tea, people with this disease may experience symptoms such as stomach pain, heartburn, nausea and indigestion.
Therefore, choosing non-acidic teas such as green tea, chamomile tea or ginger tea will help soothe stomach pain and support good digestion.
Gastroesophageal reflux (GERD)
The acid in lemon will increase stomach acidity, while caffeine can relax the lower esophageal sphincter, allowing stomach acid to reflux into the esophagus. This not only causes discomfort but can also lead to esophagitis as well as damage to the esophageal lining if the condition persists.

Kidney disease
Patients with kidney diseases, especially kidney failure, should limit drinking lemon tea. The reason is because lemons contain oxalate - a substance that when consumed in large amounts can combine with calcium in urine to form calcium oxalate crystals, causing kidney stones.
Therefore, people with kidney disease should choose low-oxalate drinks such as apple juice or herbal tea.
Arthritis
The citric acid in lemon juice can increase uric acid levels in the blood, causing the accumulation of urate crystals in the joints, leading to inflammation and joint pain. This is especially dangerous for people with gout because when caused by urate crystals, it will cause pain and damage the joints.
People with arthritis should choose drinks including cucumber juice, chamomile tea or ginger tea to help reduce inflammation and joint pain. Additionally, maintain a healthy diet and control your weight to reduce pressure on your joints.
