Shipra Khanna, a famous chef and the champion of the 2nd season of MasterChef India (2011), shared that the color of the kitchen flame is an important indicator of whether the kitchen is running effectively and safely.
Green flame: Healthy combustion process
Khanna explains that green fires suggest that the combustion process is going on properly, meaning the stove is burning fuel efficiently, with the right ratio of air and gas.
An efficient burning process not only helps reduce energy waste but also reduces emissions of toxic gases, such as carbon monoxide.
yellow or orange fire: flame is not completely gone
Gold or orange fires show incomplete burning, often due to lack of oxygen or dirt blocking the bite.
When fuel is not completely burned, fuel costs will increase because fuel is wasted. This can create carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can be harmful when inhaled, Khanna explains. Khanna also stressed that the hoarseness (the large amount of unrefined carbon particles caused by the incomplete burning of hydrocarburids) can cause cooking cravings and reduce the life of the device.
Flashing or weak fire
Khanna points out that a flashing or weak flame could be a sign of low pressure, congestion, or a problem with the adjustment. A weak fire may not generate enough heat, and this is a sign that the kitchen needs to be repaired.
Unusual flame color (red, green...)
Polluants in fuel or dirt on the dot head can cause unusual flame color.
This is a sign that the gas supply or stove needs to be cleaned or maintained.
What should you do?
Da Nang: Regularly remove food debris or accumulated fat to ensure airflow is well-ventilated.
Check gas supply sources: Make sure the gas valve is fully opened and the supply is stable.
kitchen maintenance: If the flame is not blue or has a strange smell or a weak flame, call a professional for inspection and repair.
Ms. Khanna concluded that green flame ensures safety and efficiency when cooking. Other colors may indicate issues that need to be monitored immediately. You should open doors and windows to ensure good ventilation while cooking.
