Despite this, Thanh Sơn (born in 2007, Yên Định District, Thanh Hóa Province) has always had the shadow of his father accompanying him throughout those difficult days, helping him to be more confident and steadfast in taking the next step.
Since birth, Thanh Sơn has not had an anus, nor external genital organs, and has urinated and defecated through the same opening. His entire lower body is like a large cut, exposed, and revealing the internal organs.
At that time, Thanh Sơn's life was extremely fragile, and all diagnoses indicated that he would not survive. Nevertheless, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Du (Thanh Sơn's father) remained determined to fight for his son's life.
He named his child Thanh Sơn with great hope: hoping that his child would be as strong as a mountain, but if he could not survive, the character Thanh would alleviate the burden on his child, allowing him to pass away peacefully.

In 2009, Thanh Sơn underwent surgery to restore normalcy. However, the surgery was not entirely successful, and his life has been closely tied to a diaper since then. From eating and sleeping to studying and playing, everything has been done on that diaper.
At that time, the child was still innocent, still smiling brightly, and rolling the diaper everywhere like a true knight. The years of Thanh Sơn's childhood were spent with his only friend being his sister, Thanh Phương (Sơn's sister). She loved her brother dearly, always stood up to defend and protect him.
As Thanh Sơn grew up, his sister began to yearn to attend school, to live a normal life like any other child. This was also the concern of Mr. Nguyễn Văn Du, how to help Sơn integrate and have a complete childhood. So, Thanh Sơn prepared to undergo another decisive surgery to bid farewell to the diaper and start going to school.
In the end, Thanh Sơn's dream came true. Before going to school, the entire family was overjoyed, extremely excited because now the child had a normal life. For Thanh Sơn, this was a liberation from the four walls that had confined him for nearly 9 years. Thanh Sơn was able to step out into the world, to integrate with people around him.
The dream seemed simple, but it was the result of a family's relentless effort over nearly 10 years, led by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Du, the father who tirelessly struggled to ensure his child lived a happy life.
Over the past 17 years, witnessing his son's strong and resilient growth, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Du could not help but feel emotional. He did not hope for anything more than encouraging his son to continue striving to stand on his own two feet, and when strong enough, to help spread the love and kindness of the "Thiện Nhân và những người bạn" project to even more difficult circumstances.
Nguyễn Văn Thanh Sơn's life still has many challenges ahead, but with his strong spirit, optimism, and the love surrounding him, he will overcome them all. This is also the wish of his father, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Du, to see Sơn grow up, to be by his side and continue their journey forward.
The moving story of the father and son will be retold in the program "Trạm yêu thương" with the theme "The Father's Wish", broadcast at 10:00 AM on August 10 on VTV1.
