Local Cadres in the New Situation
Date 10.8, at TP. Sầm Sơn, the network of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour nationwide has cooperated with the Nghi Sơn Economic Zone Labour Union and the Thanh Hóa Province Industrial Zones Labour Union to organize the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour nationwide conference with the theme “Building a team of local trade union officials that meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation”.
Attending and directing the conference were Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Hùng - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour. Also attending were Mr. Võ Mạnh Sơn - Chairman of the Thanh Hóa Province Labour Union, leaders of the Nghi Sơn Economic Zone Management Board and the Thanh Hóa Province Industrial Zones, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour nationwide.
In his speech at the conference, Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Hùng - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour - stated that, to date, there are 50 trade unions in industrial zones, export processing zones, economic zones, and high-tech zones belonging to 47 provincial and municipal Labour Unions. In recent times, the network of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour nationwide has closely followed the guidelines and orientations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the higher-level Labour Unions to build plans and programs that are suitable to the reality.
With the requirements and tasks set in the new situation, it is required that trade union officials must be familiar with the law, grasp the functions and tasks of the trade union organization; have a high level of education, ability, and continuous innovation to be able to perform well the function of representation and protection of the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
“I hope that, based on the experience of work and the practical activities at the units, the delegates attending the conference today will actively exchange and clarify the limitations, propose solutions to overcome the difficulties and shortcomings, to build a team of local trade union officials that meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation; contribute to the successful implementation of Resolution 13 of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and Resolution 02 of the Politburo on the Innovation of the Trade Union Organization and Activities in the new situation” - Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Hùng emphasized.
Building Strong and Comprehensive Cadres
At the conference, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Nguyễn Xuân Hùng also suggested to the Labour Unions and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour nationwide some important contents such as: continuously improving the awareness of the role, position, and importance of the team of local trade union officials in implementing activities and movements at the grassroots level.
Cooperating with the Management Board of the Industrial Zones to establish a hotline for labour relations at the industrial zones, promptly grasping and handling the difficulties of workers related to labour relations; grasping the thoughts and aspirations of the team of local trade union officials, paying attention to training, fostering, and caring for the material and spiritual interests, and having a timely reward and incentive system to motivate local trade union officials to strive and complete their tasks.
Strengthening the dissemination and education of labour law knowledge to workers; actively engaging in dialogue and cooperating with employers to organize activities to care for and improve the material and spiritual life of union members and workers; effectively implementing the movement of “Excellent Labour - Creative Labour” to continuously improve labour productivity.
At the conference, the delegates also focused on presenting papers on important issues such as: the role of local trade union officials in ensuring occupational safety and health at the workplace; building a team of local trade union officials that meets the requirements and tasks, has sufficient strength to work in the new international situation; improving the quality of local trade union officials in dialogue, wage negotiation, and welfare benefits for workers at enterprises…
Along with that, sharing solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the activities of the team of local trade union officials, the network of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour nationwide, to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
