Diversifying activities for workers' health care
In the series of activities to care for union members in Workers' Month 2026, just launched by the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, it is worth mentioning the organization of health check-ups, consultations, and free medicine distribution for hundreds of workers right at the program.
Returning from the diagnosis counter, receiving free medicine, Ms. Le Thi Tuoi - a union member of Nam Sach Industrial Park - was very excited. This is the first time Ms. Tuoi has participated in a large-scale program of the City Trade Union. Being given in-depth medical examinations (abdominal ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, cancer screening tests, eye exams), Ms. Tuoi was also consulted and given free tonics. "This is a very meaningful activity, especially for workers (NLĐ) over 35 years old like me. Hopefully in the future, workers will enjoy more health care activities from the Trade Union organization" - Ms. Tuoi said.
On this Workers' Month occasion, Tien Phong Plastic Joint Stock Company also coordinated with Kien An Hospital to conduct 3 health check-ups for officials and employees. Employees will receive in-depth examinations and health consultations to detect diseases early for timely treatment and ensure health to participate in labor and production.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Luong - a worker in the Industrial Sanitation department - said that for 20 years of working at the company, she has been given regular health check-ups by the company every year: "Compared to previous years, this year I feel my vision has decreased a lot. Being examined and enthusiastically consulted by doctors at Kien An Hospital about treatment methods, nutrition, and exercise to improve my vision, I feel much more secure.
According to the plan of Hai Phong City Labor Federation, in Workers' Month 2026, city trade union levels coordinate with specialized units to organize periodic health check-ups, thematic check-ups, organize health consultations, psychological counseling... free of charge for union members and workers with a number of about 10,000 people (prioritizing workers in heavy and hazardous industries, female workers).
Previously, in 2025, the City Labor Federation coordinated with Hanoi - Hai Phong Eye Hospital to provide free eye exams for 350,000 city trade union members; and implemented a free lens replacement surgery program for 500 union members and their relatives.
Rectifying the situation of prolonged overtime affecting workers' health
Hai Phong City Labor Federation directs trade union levels to organize "Trade Union Meals" during Workers' Month 2026, mobilizing businesses to improve the quality of lunch meals; supplement meals for overtime workers, working in heavy and hazardous environments; pay attention to living conditions in boarding houses, support improving the living environment of workers. Strive for 95% or more of grassroots trade unions directly under the "Trade Union Meal" organization; "Thank you workers" program. The City Labor Federation also organizes the mid-morning physical exercise contest "Hai Phong workers healthy and beautiful" in 2026; installs many trade union physical training points in workers' densely populated areas, creating conditions for workers to exercise after working hours...
Along with union member health care activities, through grasping public opinion, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation issued documents to rectify businesses that arrange for employees to work overtime exceeding legal regulations; strictly prohibit the organization of prolonged and continuous overtime work but without appropriate rest and health recovery solutions; production management leads to the situation of employees working overtime, not ensuring safety and labor hygiene.
The City Labor Federation also requested businesses to fully implement the regime of overtime wages, night work, work on weekly holidays, holidays, Tet; ensure mid-morning leave, weekly leave, meals, safety conditions, occupational hygiene and care for workers' health.
